DREAM GUARD

PROJECT FAQ’s

Through structured training, mentorship, and competitive opportunities, we empower youth to learn how to learn, embrace hard work, and build the character needed to succeed in sport, school, and life. Our mission is to remove barriers to participation, create pathways for growth, and use Jiu Jitsu as a vehicle to strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

What is the method and split allocation of administrative to direct program dollars?

1

At this time, all donations are allocated at 100% to fund DGP programs. Monthly competition team dues cover all administrative costs and overhead.

What are the organization’s long-term goals, mission statement? What are the success measures of the organization?

2

The mission of the Dream Guard Project is to promote physical fitness, self-confidence, and mental well-being, while offering a safe and supportive environment to foster personal growth, resilience, and community connection through Jiu-Jitsu instruction.

Our programs are designed to empower individuals, improve mental health, and teach valuable life skills such as discipline, respect, and perseverance, with a special focus on those in need within our community.

Success will be determined by:

  • Number of sponsored athletes competing in local, national, and international competitions.

  • Competition medals earned*

    • *DGP recognizes that competition success is far more than individual and team medals or podium appearances. However, Jiu-Jitsu is a sport, and performance at competitions helps raise awareness of the DGP and its mission.

  • Athlete retention

  • Athlete’s school and academic performance.

  • Athlete’s interactions and attitude in their home environment (parent report)

  • Anecdotal stories highlight the impact of Jiu-Jitsu on the lives of DGP athletes.

  • How many community members have participated in a DGP event?

What makes Jiu-Jitsu special? How does Jiu-Jitsu impact youth development?

6

Jiu Jitsu is different because it teaches young people how to learn, not just what to do. Progress on the mats comes from repetition, curiosity, and problem-solving, so students quickly understand that growth is earned through discipline and hard work. The mats never lie. Effort shows, improvement is measurable, and lessons are immediate. At its core, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is built on integrity, respect, and accountability, values that guide every roll, every drill, and every interaction with a training partner.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu shapes more than athletes, it shapes character. Students develop focus, patience, and the confidence that comes from overcoming challenges step by step. They learn to stay composed under pressure, take responsibility for their actions, and support their teammates. Over time, the discipline and mindset built through Jiu Jitsu carry into school, relationships, and everyday decision-making, helping young people grow into resilient, respectful leaders on and off the mat.
